There are many medicinal benefits of marijuana, which some medical doctors say alleviates the pain and nausea associated with AIDS, cancer, cancer treatment, and other diseases. I was recently in a car accident, in which I was hit by a drunk driver. I broke 6 ribs, my neck, and several virtebre in my back. I have been in the hospital for the last 2 months, and in rehabilitation for the last 6 months. I have been prescribed medication for my chronic pain, but have stopped takeing it after I noticed I was becoming addicted. A doctor of mine reccomended the use of cannabis as an alternative to prescruption drugs, and issue a medical marijuana card. I deceided to purchase a ‘grow box’ using hydroponics, as it would be the easiest way to quickly get my garden setup. I was not in the place of mind to turn a room into a garden. My prebuilt machine made it easy to start my clones, and my new garden in a couple of hours. After 2 months I now have some beautiful plants awaiting harvest, and look forward to a natural way of releiving my pain. I think marijuana should be legalised. Its really not a big deal. My friend lives in california we he can grow. He uses a m grow box. He has a card and can do so legally and its even perscribed by a doctor. After his accident, he lost he appetitie. With marijuana he has it back, and feels less pain. Why shouldnt he get his natural medicine?

I think the Rebbe is missing the point entirely.
Cannabis is NOT a drug! It has numerous medical uses and of course, some enjoyable side-effects.
Health-wise, going by the logic stated, all meat (especially red) is treif. Alcohol is the scourge of mankind. It ruins lives by the millions every day. It kills! It has no reasonable use, other than as a disinfectant.
O.K. You now have me pegged as a Jewish Vegetarian Tee-Totaler. Guilty as charged. If you feel like throwing in “Hippy Tree Hugger”, feel free. (That’s if my usual Tie Dye togs and near rabid addiction to the Grateful Dead’s music weren’t red flags enough!)
I’m not what you would describe as a “Pothead” I will admit to enjoying the occasional puff. A bit of a Budgie.
Two hits and I can stop there and feel quite nice.
When will the insane laws against Cannabis go up in smoke? (pun intended.)
rabbi metzger has to be the coolest rabbi going. i can’t believe he actually gave a serious answer to the question about marijuana! that’s the quality of a chief rabbi, he can make even an idiotic question sound intelligent in order to not offend the fellow posing the question.
in response to avram, i’d like to point out that indulging in too much red meat or alcohol is considered wrong by the halacha. maybe if avram would lay off the pipe he would actually be able to discern that the rabbi is saying something accurate and wise. there’s a reason why its called “dope”. i just hope that you can kick the habit before it kicks you.
